The BluSeed Studios Board of Directors approved the appointment of 2 new board members at its September and January meetings. In September, 2015, Marc Gitlitz, private management consultant with non-profit organization experience, was appointed. He and his wife, Lynn, long time seasonal residents on Upper Saranac Lake, have moved here permanently from New York City. At its meeting on January 4, 2016, Shaun Kittle of Saranac Lake was appointed to the board; formerly a reporter at the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Shaun now works as a Content Developer with the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) and lives in Saranac Lake with his wife Anna. Both are artists and have been active participants at BluSeed. Board Member Chris Covert, of Guideboat Realty in Saranac Lake, was appointed Treasurer, one of four officers on the organization’s Executive Committee, to replace Ruth Smith, who is continuing her board membership.
Artistic Director Carol Vossler states, “I am more than pleased and sincerely honored to have Marc and Shaun joining our board. They join a team of board members who are truly committed to the mission and vision of BluSeed. The recent success and growth that BluSeed has experienced is proof of that commitment. We greatly appreciate Ruth Smith helping with our budget and finances, and Chris Covert stepping up to the Treasurer position will also help us greatly in terms of his business experience. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart”
“With our by-laws amended to allow 17 members on our Board of Directors, we have an opportunity to maintain a board with more diverse backgrounds and talents, reflecting the breadth of our mission as well as the diversity of our constituents”, commented Board Chair Jim Hotaling . “It’s also critical that we move forward and maintain a strong link to the community and the region, and all of our members and staff enable us to do that.”
