BluSeed Studios offers Professional Development for Educators

BluSeed Studios has launched the Creative Classrooms Project, a workshop series specifically designed to help secondary education teachers learn new skills and earn up to 20 hours of professional development credits.

The two-day workshops are taking place this summer and fall and are appropriate for teachers of all disciplines and artistic abilities. The retreat-style program provides in-depth exploration of a particular artistic technique or practice, as well as dedicated time for peer review, discussion and critique. In addition, working in small groups led by professional artists and educators from regional Universities and Colleges, participants can identify new ways to enrich their classrooms.

The instruction takes place in a non-institutional setting at BluSeed Studios, enabling participants to relax and reboot their teaching practices, says BluSeed Artistic Director Carol Marie Vossler.

“The workshop objectives are threefold: To learn new creative processes that correlate with STEAM core standards, share classroom values and strategies with the other attendees as well as ‘take a deep breath’ and experience the beautiful Adirondack setting,” she said.

To offer attendees the option to get out and explore the region, guided tours to historical museums located in and around the Tri-Lakes will be part of the itinerary. All participants will also be invited to showcase their artwork produced during the program, and each attendee will receive be a goodie bag filled with local coupons, a flash drive with pertinent information relating to the workshops and photographs documenting their experience.

Creative Classroom workshops are eligible for Continuing Teacher & Leader Education (CTLE) certification credits through a partnership with the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA). Funding for this program was provided by a grant through the New York State Council on the Arts.
