The 21st Annual Saranac Lake Third Thursday Art Walk Season Continues
August 15 is Day 4 of the Adirondack Plein Air Festival which accepted 50 artists from all over the country for a week of outdoor painting in the greater Saranac Lake Region. Those artists will also be out and about during the August Third Thursday ArtWalk, so there’s even more to do and especially see on this busy Third Thursday of the month in the village of Saranac Lake.
With more than 60 participating artists and businesses, there was already plenty to see and experience. Third Thursday Art Walks run from 5pm-7:30pm along Main St., Broadway, Woodruff St., Bloomingdale Ave, Church St., and Cedar St. in Saranac Lake. More than 30 artists are paired with sponsoring businesses and organizations, demonstrating that the area is a great arts community as well as a fun place to shop. These artists encompass every medium imaginable from musicians and writers to jewelry makers, painters, woodcarvers, glassblowers, craftspeople, and more. There is something for every age and every taste.
Both the Chamber and Saranac Lake ArtWorks would like to recognize Tim Fortune for his 20 years of service to the art community as the lead organizer and champion of the Art Walks. His leadership, passion, and positive disposition has enabled the event to grow into one of the highlights of the summer season. As Tim transitioned out of his responsibilities, the Chamber and Saranac Lake ArtWorks have coordinated this year’s season together.
The Art Walks run from 5pm-7:30pm on June 20th, July 18th, August 15th, and September 19th. The mission of the Art Walks is to stimulate business, draw attention to downtown Saranac Lake and to encourage community spirit through the presentation of visual, performing, and literary arts by artists who live and work in the North Country. Artists or businesses interested in participating can still contact the Chamber or Saranac Lake ArtWorks at (518) 891 – 3799 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
