SARANAC LAKE, NY— BluSeed Studios, the multi-disciplinary arts center at 24 Cedar Street in Saranac Lake hosted an opening reception for the exhibit “One Earth!” on Friday, June 7 and awarded prizes to artists in the following categories.

  • Best Abstract—Eleanor Sweeney, “In the Beginning”
  • One Earth – Emmett Smith, “Old Dock”
  • Honorable Mention—Nancie Battaglia, “Boats…OSM”
  • Honorable Mention—James Bullard, “Pond Edge”

The audience chose two Peoples’ Choice artists:

  • Ron Nolland for “Above Below”
  • Dan Sullivan for “August Heat”

The reception was filled with artists and visitors from all over the North Country—from Long Lake to Plattsburgh and everywhere in between.

According to BluSeed’s Operations Director, Kathleen Recchia, “The exhibit is far-ranging in the means and modes of the artists’ expressions of ‘Mother Earth,’ no two are alike. There are some amazing pieces and I encourage everyone to come on out to BluSeed over the next month and look, study, and touch!”

BluSeed will be open for the June 20 First Thursday ArtWalk, allowing visitors and residents to take the time to get to the gallery and enjoy the work of the dozens of artists who contributed to this exhibit.

BluSeed Studios will be offering classes throughout the summer in various mediums; as well as a special inaugural Pollinator Garden event in July and BluZoo in August.

There will be ongoing classes and other events in BluSeed’s Underground space and BluSeed’s annual Summer Breeze event on July 31.
