December 8 Ugly Sweater Fun Run to Raise Funds for Free Spring Break Art Classes
Registration: 8:30am ~ Fun Run Begins at 9am ~ Awards & Prizes 11am
BluSeed Studios is looking for people of all abilities to brave the winter elements December 8, 2018 to wear and run in the First Annual Ugly Sweater Fun Run. The 5k run is set to raise money for free spring break student art classes offered during the two weeks school spring holiday.
Last year was the first year that BluSeed provided the free spring break classes with funds generously provided by a grant from Adirondack Trust as well a generous donations from the community. With over 250 projects and 150 children served, the program was an overwhelming success. This year’s goal is to increase the number of classes and provide free art workshops for all grade levels.
According BluSeed Founder and Artist Director Carol Vossler, the December 8 Fun Run will be an annual event where all proceeds will directly benefit these free classes. “We are focusing on first raising money to allow those students and families that stay home during the school break to have a free creative outlet and perhaps learn a new skill,” says Vossler. “Depending on the success of the December 8 event will determine if we can spread those free classes out to include afterschool workshops and classes. Our community has always been generous and we expect a lot of people to come and support these kids through this fun event.” Vossler adds that the first 300 people to register for the BluSeed Ugly Sweater Fun Run’s will receive a hand-glazed tile/trivet. Handmade mugs and other artist-made creations will be used as trophies and raffle prizes. Vossler states, “Since we are an arts driven organization, we want to offer participants something different than a tee shirt, and showcase what we offer at BluSeed. It’s also just in the time for the holidays. People can run or walk the 5K course and get their beautifully glazed tile to keep or give as a gift. Additionally, each entry will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win some wonderful BluSeed Studios handmade items.”
Registration is available online and the day of the event (click on specific entry).
Prizes will be given to the top three fastest times in the men’s and women’s divisions as well as one prize given to the person judged wearing the ugliest sweater. All proceeds will go to benefit the BluSeed spring break free workshops. Any additional funds will be used directly to fun free afterschool programing at BluSeed.
