BluSeed Studios announces three separate, six-week art programs for young artists in 1st -8th grades. There will be two BluSeedlings classes the first for ages 6-7 or 1st-2nd grade and the other 8- 10 or grades 3-5. The third class will be the BluSeedlings “Sprouts” 12-14 or grades 6-8.
Classes are as follows: BluSeedlings: Age 6-7 or 1st & 2nd Grade will be on Mondays- Feb 6, 13, 20, 27, March 5 & 12;
BluSeedlings: Age 8-11 or 3rd – 5th Grade dates are Tuesday Feb 7, 14, 21, 28, March 6 & 13 and
BluSeedlings age 12-14 or 6th – 8th Grade dates are Thursday Feb 9, 16, 23, March 1, March 8 & 15.
The program is designed and developed to inspire young people to explore and discover art through creative projects in clay, drawing and painting. The program seeks to develop and strengthen creative skills, build self-esteem and confidence, develop a sense of individuality, encourage self-expression, and stimulate imagination in children.
Adventures in Clay explores both hand building and wheel throwing through a string of specific projects such as bowl, mug, treasure box, favorite pet and/or wind chime!

Sacha Sanger is an alumna of Plattsburgh State’s Fine Art program with a concentration in both ceramics and printmaking. Sacha spent the summer at Penland School of Crafts assisting in their Community Collaborations department while also teaching art classes for students with English as a second language. During the fall she completed an apprenticeship with Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, a working history museum creating tiles in the American Arts & Crafts tradition. Sacha joined BluSeed as an artist in Residence in December and is looking forward to becoming part of the artistic community in Saranac Lake.
Joanna Merry graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in May 2011 with her BFA in Ceramics and Printmaking. After graduation, she spent the summer traveling in order to partake in various programs and work exchange opportunities at numerous art schools and centers. Among these were Penland School of Crafts, Alfred University and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts. Joanna has assisted and taught several children’s workshops over the past couple years including the 21st century program and Monday ceramics classes to children of the Ted Kay Center in Plattsburgh. This past October she joined BluSeed as an artist in residence.
