BluZoo: A Unique Integrative Art & Science Summer Camp

Blu-Zoo: Art & Science Camp!
  • Age groups: 7-12 years
  • Time: 9-12pm
  • Duration: 8/13-8/17
  • Cost: 150.00/week or 35.00/day (125.00 or$30.00 for 2nd child) includes all materials, a daily snack and a swag bag
  • Scholarships: 5 full and 5 1/2 granted through Charles R. Wood Foundation
  • Must call for scholarship/registration (First come First served)

BluSeed Studios of Saranac Lake in partnership with the Utica Zoo presents our new “Blu-Zoo summer camp! A brilliant blend of integrative art and science activities created to develop critical thinking skills and inspire self-expression! For one-week children can meet live animals face to face, record their observations in their very own journal, and assemble handmade projects using a variety of materials. Come join the fun and meet new friends including invertebrates, and reptiles from the Utica Zoo! Flexible scheduling options are available – sign up for the week or for any of the specific daily activities! 5 Full & 10 partial scholarships are available to children of the Tri-Lake area (first come first serve) on behalf of the Charles R. Wood Foundation. You must sign up for the whole week to receive a scholarship.

The Instructors:

Mary Hall is the Director of Education and Conservation at the Utica Zoo. She brings twenty-five years’ experience in environmental education and loves to share her passion and knowledge about the Adirondack Forests. Mary earned her degree in Forestry from Paul Smiths College. Prior to her work at the Utica Zoo she was the environmental educator for the NYS Department of Environment Conservation (DEC) and an educator at the Utica Children’s Museum.

Carol Marie Vossler is the Founder & Artistic Director at BluSeed Studios. Her varied experience includes forest practices, art integration certification and teaching the studio arts for twenty years. She earned degrees in Forestry from Paul Smiths College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Plattsburgh State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Syracuse University.
