An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until May 30, 2017
Broadside Composite relief printing, on letterpress
This will be a six week class meeting Tuesday nights April 25 through May 30, 2017.
An introduction to composite printing focused on creating one broadside edition from three printing plates that cover the basic forms of relief print plate making. A broadside incorporates both image and text.
The following basic forms of relief will be covered: carving small wood and linoleum blocks; identifying and printing with found objects; pre-made forms and a photomechanical plate. Students will be asked to incorporate words with images completing the broadside. The Vandercook self-inking letterpress (a machine designed to print newspaper volume editions) will be used throughout the six week session.
Each student will complete an edition of ten prints one in which will be framed! In addition one print from each participant will be shared, creating a class portfolio. This is creative learning experience, not to be missed! Class size is limited so make sure to reserve your spot!
