CCP retreat: “Bringing Drama Back Into Your Life”

March 2 - March 4

“Bringing Drama Back Into Your Life”

How to Bring Art Integration Into the Classroom

March 2nd – 4th

Why Take This Workshop?

There are many ways on how to learn to see. When students learn to move in space,  they gain the ability to see three-dimensional space in their heads, This in turn will inspire them  to take what they do physically or with their voice and translate into a design, hypothesis, math problem or story.  Opening yourself up to new ways of discovery expands your comfort zone and increases confidence and self-esteem. If you show your students how  ideas can fit together and how they pull apart, then they are able to understand how things work and begin their creative journey with enthusiasm.

About the instructors

Annie Edgerton

Annie Edgerton was given the leading role in her second-grade play and has been performing ever since.  On Broadway, Annie played “Rosie” in the global smash hit, “Mamma Mia!”  She has also donned the spandex and platform boots to cover and perform the roles of Donna, Tanya, and Rosie on Broadway, as well as on two North American Tours of “Mamma Mia!” and she recently returned from a year and a half with the international tour of “Kinky Boots,” telling that beautiful story all over the U.S., Canada, and Japan.

In New York, Annie created the leading role in James Harvey’s “The Crack in the Ceiling” as part of the New York Music Theatre Festival’s (NYMF) staged reading series.  She played Eileen in Neal Bell’s dark drama “Two Small Bodies,” Camilla Parker-Bowles in the much-hyped Princess Diana musical “Queen of Hearts,” and has performed in three New York International Fringe Festivals and two leading roles with the venerable “Musicals Tonight” series.

Also in New York, Annie was very proud to be a part of the Steven Sondheim Birthday Celebration at Avery Fisher Hall, singing for Sondheim himself, as well as performing in the select choir at composer Marvin Hamlisch’s memorial service.  She has performed in “Broadway in Bryant Park,” and was Tanya the Dynamo for “Mamma Mia!”’s contribution as Broadway honored the tenth anniversary of 9/11, singing alongside Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bebe Neuwirth.

In regional theatres across the country, some of Annie’s favorite roles have been Madame Thenardier in “Les Misérables,” Adriana in “The Comedy of Errors,” Violet in “9 to 5,” Rosemary in John Patrick Shanley’s “Outside Mullingar,” the manicurist Paulette in “Legally Blonde,” Nancy in “Oliver,” and many others. She recently had a ball at the Depot in Westport as a quarter of the girl group “The Bikinis,” which broke box office records for the theatre.

Annie has performed numerous cabaret acts at the Duplex and Don’t Tell Mama in NYC, including “That Time of the Year,” “On the Edge,” and “Love Bites.” She is a singer/songwriter currently working on a CD of jazz standards and she has sung the National Anthem for 24 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams (so far!)

She is also a wine professional holding multiple certifications, and is the creator and host of the new YouTube video series, “Broadway Buzzed” — Helping People Love Wine, One Broadway Show at a Time.

Annie has appeared on film and television, she studies voice with Neil Semer, acting with Sande Shurin, and she is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.
