 “TRIBAL”

featuring artwork by Annoel Krider!

On Friday, July 6th an artist reception will be held for  Ms. Annoel Krider, a nationally recognized tapestry weaver, stick sculptor turned painter.  She studied weaving from a Mayan Indian in Cuernavaca, Mexico & The Scheur Tapestry Studio in New York City and holds a BA in Art Education from Mercyhurst College.  Recently she was the Head Gardener at the Whiteface Club & Resort as well as the Master Gardener for the Cornell Cooperative Extension. Her interest reach beyond the studio as well; she is the founding member of Adirondack Friends of the Animals, a member of the North Country Cloggers and a Reiki Master.

About her art and artistic intent, Ms Krider states, “Art has been my life since I was a child. I would watch my mother paint and see that faraway look in her eyes as she worked and created and I wondered where she was. I think that expression is what I now understand. It’s not so much what I am creating but what I feel and sense while creating.  It’s about what I become while creating and when I don’t become that, at the end of the day, I am lost”.

“Music is an essential aspect of my art. It’s not always constant what I listen to but It does have to help send me to that place I need to be to create. Music folds around my spirit and lets my heart and mind blend, working together as the force that is responsible for my art. I feel blessed because as an artist I experience, on a daily basis, that inner voice that speaks silently to me…. that connects me so securely to that universal life force. Creating is never about thinking. When I start thinking I know it’s time to stop what I’m doing. It’s all about sensing and feeling and never forcing but allowing”.

The sometimes Native American inspiration in my work is perhaps merely a result of some past life DNA influence. It was never a decision I made yet a subtle force within me. No matter what I do it seems to appear as a pattern, or color, or essence. At some powerful time in my past I most definitely was a part of some indigenous culture. The Tribal force remains strong”.

Ms Krider is the recipient of many awards including: The New York Foundation of the Arts Fellowship and The New York Council of the Arts Sponsored Work Grant.  She is currently represented by Taos Blue, Taos, New Mexico, Fire on Main, Soap Lake, Washington, Glass Growers Gallery, Erie, Pennsylvania
