Ann Katzen is a long- time supporter, who exhibits exclusively in the Adirondacks at BluSeed. She is water colorist and ceramics artist who has studied in Manhattan at The Art Student’s League, on Long Island at the Water Color Society, and has shown at Salmagundi in Manhattan and The Pottery in Greenwich Village.
Carol Marie Vossler met Ann Katzen in the early years of BluSeed, literally when the paint was still drying, and she has been impressed and inspired by her ever since. “I consider her, and all of the women from her generation, pioneers. They were leaders who confronted gender discrimination and isolation from galleries. “Although it still exists, they were essential in moving women’s rights forward in the art world. The fact that she, and many other women, persevered for hundreds of years, is reason that I am able to do what I do today.”
Ann will be showing watercolors, however her work has a unique depth and intensity unlike the watery quality of most watercolor paintings.
Carol Marie will be showing new pulp-paintings made in the Nepalese style of paper formation. Her work encompasses symbolic and conceptual abstractions that acknowledge and/or question the idiosyncrasies found in nature; namely-copulation, creation and transition.
