"15 Years" - The recent works of Stephanie Gerolimatos and Mark Bodah

Stephanie Gerolimatos and Mark Bodah met in 1993 while earning art degrees at SUNY Plattsburgh. It took seven years, but inevitably, a random palm reader's love prophecy came to pass, and in 2000 they became a couple. Today, they share a home in Western Massachusetts with their five feline friends.
Stephanie spends most days in her home studio making art. Her work begins and ends with the physicalómaterials and process. Barriers between various disciplines such as painting and sculpture disappear or lose significance. She employs whatever works on any given day whether it's oil paint, encaustic, expanding foam insulation or desiccated animal remains. Finding a balance between imposing her will and allowing the materials and objects to exert their inherent properties is a major consideration. Ultimately, this dilemma becomes a metaphor for finding ways to exist outside the studio.
Mark is preparator for the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, plays drums for several bands, has a home recording set-up and periodically ventures back into the visual arts. His visual work draws from biology, archeology and the natural environment and focuses on the moment of transition between one state of being and the next. Themes include the topography of body and landscape.
In addition to this exhibition, they have another scheduled for September 2008 at Hosmer Gallery in Northampton, MA.
